This innovative facial treatment, also called the glass skin facial, combines the process of microneedling and micro-infusion to create a smooth and glowing complexion. This treatment uses a micro-infusion mechanism to deliver a custom-made cocktail of medical-grade ingredients deep into the dermis. When it comes to traditional topical products, there are special formulations and delivery systems to ensure optimal absorption past our epidermal skin barrier. Specific conditions have to be met by both the topical product and the skin type to ensure optimal absorption. By using hollow bore needles, this device ensures delivery of ingredients past the epidermal barrier and to a precise depth to target and improve the quality of the skin. Some ingredients that are used are botox, retinol, growth factors, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins. This treatment delivers results within a few days and can last up to 3-5 months. It is a perfect treatment to prepare for a big event or occasion in which you want to create extra luminosity to the skin and a flawless complexion. Although it only takes a few days to improve your complexion, it also has an added benefit of working to build collagen over a period of about 6-8 weeks following each treatment.
It is important to come to your treatment with a fresh face with no make-up on. The treatment will start with topical numbing to ensure the procedure is painless. While numbing, there will be a consultation to discuss skin concerns and treatment goals. During this process, we will develop a customized cocktail of ingredients to infuse. Once ready, the vial will be used to delicately stamp and and infuse the powerful ingredients throughout the face. The procedure will take approximately 15 minutes in total.
Following treatment, you will notice some temporary redness, like a mild sunburn, for a few hours after treatment. It is recommended that you wait at least 8 hours prior to washing your face with a gentle cleanser before bed. The next day, you can return to your skincare routine although it is recommended to avoid chemical and physical exfoliants for 48 hours following the procedure.
It is always important to schedule a consultation to ensure this is a good treatment option for you. If you have any open wounds or active breakouts, it is recommended to wait until those areas are healed. This treatment is also not recommended for any patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
In the microinfusion facial, botox only penetrates skin-deep and does not affect the deeper muscles of the face. As a result, it does not affect facial movement, but it does affect the small muscles attached to hair follicles to help smooth the skin and reduce pore size. It also decreases sebum production so could additionally benefit any patients with acne prone skin.
Temporary redness is common after this procedure. We work to minimize the chance of infection by cleaning the face prior to the procedure and avoiding additional products for a period of time following treatment.
Like other facials, this treatment is a “treat” for your skin, but it does have an increased medical focus. There will be less pampering associated with this facial, but it does give a result that lasts a few months and can give your skin a boost in day-to-day life or be the final touch before a big event where you want to look your best. Because of the microneedling mechanism, it also helps to stimulate collagen production which will be a long-term benefit.
