What are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators, such as FDA-approved Botox®, are the world’s most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment. Safe and clinically proven, Botox in Houston, Texas is effective in treating “dynamic” wrinkles, or wrinkles associated with facial movement and expression. It has been used safely for both cosmetic and therapeutic purposes for many years. Other neuromodulators, such as Dysport® and Xeomin®, are also purified forms of botulinum toxin type A that are very similar to Botox. Daxxify is the latest generation of injectable neuromodulator. It combines botulinum toxin with lab-engineered peptides in order to improve efficacy and potentially provide an effect that lasts longer than similar injectables.
Botox for hyperhidrosis
Botox is a useful treatment for hyperhidrosis or overstimulated sweat glands. It is FDA approved for excessive underarm sweating but can also be used in treatment of other areas like the palms. According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, botox can decrease excessive sweating by more than 85%. Results can last around 4 months to 1 year.
Botox for TMJ
Botox can also be injected into the masseter muscle for patients who experience grinding or clenching of their teeth. This treatment will relax the masseter muscle and reduce pain and discomfort associated with TMJ. It can also provide the added benefit of facial slimming as this treatment will decrease the width of an overactive masseter muscle. This treatment is a safe, non-surgical option for patients who are experiencing this condition. Results can last from 3-6 months.
Botox Crows Feet
Botox to Forehead
Botox does not fill in the wrinkle but rather works by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing muscles to relax. This reduces the muscle contraction that creates and deepens wrinkles. Therefore, Botox can temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and when used long-term, it can even prevent wrinkles from forming while smoothing existing lines. It is effective in treating dynamic lines such as those along the glabella, forehead, crow’s feet and neck bands.
People can be concerned about a “frozen look” after Botox. This can be controlled with the amount of Botox that is injected into the target muscle, which can vary from patient to patient. If over injection is performed, a frozen look may occur. Other issues include heavy brows or a droopy eyelid. We will carefully administer your Botox treatment to ensure you receive the most balanced and flattering results.

The average age to start Botox is typically in your early 30s, although some individuals may choose to begin in their late 20s. Botox is typically not necessary until the first signs of lines or wrinkles are visible. It is better to start at the first sign, as the sooner you begin treatment, the less likely that you will develop deep lines which are harder to treat. Baby botox or micro botox is an excellent option for younger individuals who want to prevent or have noticed the first signs of fine lines.
No more than a pin prick! Botox needles are generally very small, and most patients experience little to no pain. There are topical numbing agents that can be used on request.
Botox and Dysport are both very similar. Their side effect profile, duration until onset and lasting time are similar. Patients with an allergy to cow’s milk protein should not be injected with Dysport. A consultation is the best way to determine which one is right for you!
